Edwards Law

Lawyer Referral Partnership

Edwards Law welcomes referrals from lawyers whose clients have cross-border U.S.-Canada immigration needs that fall outside their own practice. Common scenarios include criminal defense attorneys whose clients face admissibility consequences from a recent conviction; family law attorneys whose clients need to address immigration status as part of divorce or custody proceedings; business attorneys whose corporate clients need work permits or executive transfers for cross-border operations; and employment attorneys whose clients need work visa support for international hires.

Referral fees are paid in jurisdictions where the rules of professional conduct permit them. Where fee-sharing is not permitted, the referral relationship operates without fees, with reciprocal referrals as the basis for partnership.

Edwards Law refers cases back to partner firms when appropriate. A cross-border immigration client whose situation includes criminal charges, family law issues, business formation needs, or other matters outside the immigration practice receives a referral to a partner firm with the relevant expertise. The referral relationship is mutual rather than one-directional.

Edwards Law is licensed in both the United States and Canada and serves the Windsor-Detroit corridor and the broader U.S.-Canada border. The dual-jurisdiction credential allows handling matters that would otherwise require coordinating between separate U.S. and Canadian counsel.

For lawyers interested in establishing a referral relationship, contact the firm directly to discuss specific practice areas and case types that fit the partnership.
