Spousal Work Authorization for E and L Visa Holders

For those seeking and E or L visa, an important benefit is that your spouse has automatic work authorization. An employment authorization document does not need to be filed. Your spouse just has to present a valid I-94 indicating that were admitted into E or L status and then they can work. Employers may not know about this and may be skeptical about your spouse’s work authorization. Therefore, you should go to USCIS’s website, print a copy of USCIS’ memo regarding this, and present it with a copy of your spouse’s valid I-94 showing the valid status. This should be sufficient for your spouse to find a job.
